DISTANCE LEARNING FOR THE WEEK MONDAY 11TH TO FRIDAY 15TH MAY 2020

Please find this week’s activities listed below. Following on from VE Day last Friday, this week’s writing has a ‘historical’ theme. In the afternoons, I have uploaded a couple of challenges/competitions that you might like to enter.

English: Monday to Thursday:

This week the focus is a picture called The Greatest Team (see PDF below or the document on Google Classroom:

See the PDF below for the activities each day. I would suggest you complete them in this order:

Monday - Question Time – answer the questions based on the picture.

Tuesday – Sentence Challenge and ‘Sick’ Sentences

Wednesday – Perfect Picture (drawing instead of writing today) – Can you draw a picture of what the team will be doing in a month’s time? Do you think they will all be together?

Thursday – Complete the story starter:

They had been through so much together over the past few months and years. They were well known throughout the land as the greatest rugby team, and every Saturday they had tested themselves against the best opposition across Britain. They had given blood, sweat and tears on the rugby pitch for each other, sticking together through thick and thin. Posing for their final photograph, the greatest team felt incredibly close; a band of brothers, bonded together through their shared passion, dedication and friendship.

Now Britain was at war, they knew things would be different. They would have to test themselves against tougher opposition. Now, they would need each other more than ever….

Friday – Activity on SPAG.com it is about ‘possibility words’ otherwise known as ‘adverbs of possibility’ – this might help you:

The most common adverbials of probability are: definitely, certainly, clearly, obviously, possibly, perhaps, probably, maybe. Perhaps and maybe are usually placed at the beginning of the clause: Perhaps it will stop raining soon
