Exceptional Leave

  • There have been amendments to the Education Regulations Act 2006. These amendments remove reference to family holidays and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments make clear that head teachers may not grant leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Whilst we understand that some absences may include times when your child is ill or attending appoints, preferably out of school time, it is important that we all work together to ensure your child has the best possible success whilst at school.

We also request that non-urgent medical appointments are, where possible made outside of school hours.

If you need to request exceptional leave, including time away from school for medical appointments, then please complete the Exceptional Leave Form (below) prior to the requested date. The Executive Head will then review each form on an individual basis.
